Introducing New CNN Newsource Team Members
Michael Yoshida joins CNN Newsource as a correspondent based in Washington, DC.
Michael joins us from 7NEWS in Boston where he reported on diverse news stories, including the deadly Merrimack Valley gas line explosions and subsequent investigations, political campaigns, classified documents leak, and the Titan submersible search.
Brian served as a reporter for Action News Jax in Jacksonville, Florida, covering hurricanes, the federal indictment and trial of former Congresswoman Corrine Brown, and issues impacting US military members. He also served as a reporter for WDAZ in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Michael is a Wesleyan University graduate.
Leigh Waldman joins CNN Newsource as a correspondent based in New York, NY.
Leigh was previously an investigative reporter at KSAT 12 in San Antonio, TX. She led the station’s coverage during the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting, earning an Emmy and Texas Broadcast News Award. She helmed enterprise lead stories and created Texas Crime Stories — the #1 podcast in her market.
Leigh has also served as anchor for WOWT in Omaha, NE, as well as anchor, reporter and producer for Victoria Television Group in Victoria, TX.
Leigh graduated from Texas Tech University.
Brian Abel joins CNN Newsource as a correspondent based in Washington, DC.
Brian previously served as an anchor for Detroit’s WXYZ, reporter for KSHB in Kansas City, reporter for Fargos WDAY, and primary anchor for WDAZ in Grand Forks. He led 2016 election coverage, secured interviews with 2020 presidential candidates, and led breaking news stories, including the plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer and multiple mass shootings.
In 2020, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Michigan chapter honored Brian with an Emmy Award for Connected in Crime: Detroit to West Virginia.
Brian is a Western Michigan University graduate.
